"The War of the Worlds" is the fabled Halloween episode of the radio series The Mercury Theatre on the Air, directed and narrated by Orson Welles as an adaptation of H. G. Wells's novel The War of the Worlds. It was performed and broadcast live on October 30, 1938 over the CBS Radio Network. The episode is famous for reputedly inciting a panic through its “breaking news” style and limited commercial interruptions which convinced some members of the listening audience, who had tuned in late, that a Martian invasion was taking place.
PTP’s Radio Cavalcade series are one night only, staged readings of classic radio plays complete with live music and sound effects. This event is fun for the whole family.
